A Site Visit to Casa de Campo by Barefoot Bride Meghan T.

Nestled on the sun-kissed shores of the Dominican Republic, Casa de Campo stands out as an idyllic paradise for couples seeking a luxurious and unforgettable wedding experience. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting this resort to explore its wedding offerings firsthand. From its stunning beachfront venues to its opulent accommodations and world-class amenities, Casa de Campo promises to transform your special day into a magical celebration. In this post, I’ll take you through my site visit, offering an inside look at what makes Casa de Campo a top choice for destination weddings and providing you with the insights you need to envision your own unforgettable celebration in this tropical haven.

First Impressions

Arriving at Casa de Campo, I was immediately impressed with the gated community, strict security and feeling of safety. Being in a new country can be intimidating for some and while check in at the gate took a little longer than expected, I completely appreciated the strict guidelines to ensure that every guest who enters, is supposed to be entering.

As we drove through the entrance, the lush, meticulously landscaped grounds set the tone for what would be an extraordinary visit.

Casa de Campo is more than just a hotel resort. Outside from the hotel rooms are multi-million dollar homes, villas, apartments and condos that are available for purchase and rent making this 7,000 acre resort a place where you will never get bored (but maybe lost!) My advice, always have your map with you and pay attention to all the signs! 😂

The Venue Options

Minitas Beach

Minitas Beach is a wonderful location for a wedding! I was impressed with the amount of sandy space on the beach - as some resorts can lack in this area. The expansive beach area provides ample space for both intimate ceremonies and grand receptions, allowing you to customize your setup to reflect your personal style. During my site visit, I was lucky enough to catch the beginning set up    of a wedding on the beach - see the picture for reference!

This is where I will be hosting my White Beach Party - the day before the wedding. Think a tropical band, fruity drinks, corn hole and toes in the sand all night long!

La Casita at The Marina

The vibrant Casa de Campo Marina offers a chic and sophisticated alternative for couples seeking a more cosmopolitan flair. With its sleek yachts and lively atmosphere, the marina provides a stylish setting for a wedding that blends nautical elegance with a touch of urban sophistication.

La Casita is one of the restaurants at The Marina, where smaller weddings can be held. Not only was the food delicious 😋 but there is something overly romantic about being married during sunset at this location.

I chose this location for my welcome dinner! This is an event in place of a rehearsal dinner, being held night 1, where we welcome all of our guests to the resort. Everyone will have a chance to meet each other and mingle before the bigger events in the days to come!

La Plaza de Chavón

La Plaza de Chavón offers an extraordinary setting that effortlessly blends historical charm with stunning natural beauty. Inspired by a Mediterranean village, this picturesque venue provides a unique and unforgettable backdrop for your destination wedding, capturing the essence of romance and elegance in every corner. Think beautiful architecture, cobblestone walkways, overlooking a naturally beautiful river. 😍

There are multiple locations within La Plaza de Chavon where you can host your wedding or wedding events! Dye Fore, La Plaza, the Gardens, the Amphitheater are some of the most popular! I loved the surprise aspect of this location. Most guests will be expecting toes in the sand, being at a resort in the Caribbean.

My wedding ceremony will be held at La Plaza - overlooking the river. My cocktail hour will be inside La Piazzetta Restaurant (giving my guests a break from the heat with some air conditioning) and my reception will be held at the Lower Terrace.

Above are the most popular locations for weddings at Casa de Campo but there are many more to choose from! I have even seen brides rent out multi-million dollar waterfront villas and host them there. The locations are limitless!

Accommodations and Amenities When All-Inclusive

Casa de Campo doesn’t just offer stunning wedding venues; it provides an unparalleled experience with its exceptional accommodations and world-class amenities. Whether you’re looking for a luxurious retreat for your wedding party or a serene sanctuary for relaxation, Casa de Campo delivers on all fronts, ensuring that your stay is as memorable as your special day.

It is important to note that Casa de Campo offers guests to choose being part of the all-inclusive package or not. If choosing not to, all drinks, activities and food will be paid out of pocket. When choosing all-inclusive, guests have the option to choose from 7 restaurants, free drinks and a handful of free activities! More about that below.

  1. Luxury Villas and Suites

  • Private Villas: For those seeking ultimate privacy and exclusivity, Casa de Campo’s private villas offer the perfect solution. Ranging from spacious three-bedroom retreats to opulent estates with up to nine bedrooms, these villas provide expansive living spaces, private pools, and lush gardens. They are ideal for bridal parties or families wanting to stay together in a secluded, luxurious setting. Each villa is elegantly furnished and equipped with modern amenities, including gourmet kitchens, outdoor dining areas, and dedicated staff to cater to your every need.

  • Elegant Suites: If a villa isn’t quite what you’re looking for, Casa de Campo’s suites offer a refined and comfortable alternative. The resort’s suites are designed with sophisticated decor and feature stunning views of the resort’s grounds or the Caribbean Sea. Guests can enjoy plush bedding, spacious living areas, and access to resort amenities such as private balconies or terraces.

Both options above are available to you when creating your room block. My fiance and I went with a 5-bedroom Classic Villa for our closest friends and family, and the rest of our group were able to choose from the Superior Casita Rooms or the Elite Rooms! Above is a picture of their “cheapest” room - which I was in LOVE with. The dark wood and layout made me feel like I was in my own little beach bungalow. I really appreciated how it was only 1 floor of rooms. During my second site visit, I stayed in the room above that (the Elite Room) and was less impressed. The Elite rooms feel more like a typical room at a resort.

2. Onsite Dining

Dining at Casa de Campo is a culinary adventure in itself. The resort offers a range of dining experiences that cater to various tastes and occasions.

If choosing the all-inclusive package, guests have the option to choose from:

  • La Cana Bar & Restaurant: French-inspire cuisine with live music in the evening, breakfast, lunch and dinner

  • Chilango Taqueria: Mexican cuisine, lunch and dinner

  • La Piazetta: Italian cuisine, dinner

  • Lago Buffet: Caribbean buffet, breakfast and lunch

  • La Casita: Spanish-inspired cuisine, dinner

  • Causa Resturant: Peruvian cuisine, dinner

  • Beach Food Trucks: Assorted causal cuisine, lunch and snacks

  • Juice Bar: fresh juice smoothies.

  • 24 Hour Room Service

Outside of the all-inclusive restaurants, are other places to eat like cafes, sit down dinners, icecream, snacks and everything else you can imagine. Since some people live on the resort year round, you will even find a local grocery store!

3. Recreational Activities

Beyond its luxurious accommodations and dining options, Casa de Campo offers an array of recreational activities to enhance your stay.

  • Golf: Home to three world-renowned golf courses, including the famous Teeth of the Dog, Casa de Campo is a golfer’s paradise. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, the resort’s courses offer a challenging and scenic golfing experience. (not included with all-inclusive package)

  • Skeet Shooting: The Casa de Campo Shooting Center is a premier facility that caters to both seasoned shooters and beginners. Designed to blend seamlessly with the resort’s luxurious environment, the center offers state-of-the-art equipment and meticulously maintained shooting ranges. The center’s professional staff ensures that every participant receives expert guidance and a safe, enjoyable experience. (25 rounds included in your all-inclusive package)

  • Shopping and Entertainment: Casa de Campo’s local shops and entertainment venues offer a range of options for leisure and indulgence. From boutique shopping to lively events, performances and even a movie theater, there’s always something to enjoy.

  • Fitness Center: The resort features a state-of-the-art fitness center equipped with the latest exercise equipment, ensuring that guests can maintain their fitness routine while away.

The Best Part

What really sold me and my fiance (who is an avid golfer) on this resort was how each and every guest gets their own golf cart to drive around the resort in. As I mentioned earlier, Casa de Campo is a 7,000 acre resort, which means each location is not within walking distance (unless you're ready to get in a good sweat!) We had SO MUCH FUN driving around the resort in our golf carts.

Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic stands as a premier destination for couples seeking a luxurious and unforgettable wedding experience. From the breathtaking venues like La Plaza de Chavón to the opulent accommodations and world-class amenities, every aspect of this resort is designed to provide a seamless blend of elegance and comfort.

Every detail, from the warm welcome of the staff to the meticulously maintained facilities, reflects Casa de Campo’s commitment to excellence. The resort’s ability to combine natural beauty, historical charm, and modern luxury makes it an ideal setting for couples looking to create a truly extraordinary celebration.

As you plan your destination wedding, consider Casa de Campo not just as a venue but as a complete experience that will captivate and delight.
