Unforgettable Destination Weddings at Secrets Playa Mujeres by Andrea

Last month, I had the chance to visit Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort, and it couldn’t have been better timing as the adults-only, all-inclusive resort had just reopened after an expansive renovation. Located in the Playa Mujeres area just north of Cancun, the recent renovation has given Secrets Playa Mujeres a new feel and beautiful setting.

The resort offers a variety of  wedding venues to choose from.  The first option is the amazing beach, for a barefoot ceremony in the sand or a reception under the stars. The Playa Mujeres beach will deliver.  The beach is available year round, but I would note that from May through November, all events must be over by 9 pm, due to turtle nesting season.  The beach can be used for ceremony or reception. 

For the Couples who prefer to be out of the sand for the ceremony, Secrets offers a beautiful ocean view wedding gazebo. This bamboo‑style structure faces the ocean and can accommodate up to about 150 guests for the ceremony and 20 guests for a reception. When having your ceremony at the gazebo, you will be assigned the Infinity Terrace for your reception. 

The Infinity Terrace is a stunning open air wedding venue perfect for cocktail hours or receptions after your ceremony at the Gazebo. It overlooks the pool area and offers beautiful views of the ocean and palm trees. This venue accommodates up to 150 guests. 

The Sugar Reef Terrace is also a popular open‑air wedding reception and cocktail venue located near the resort’s main pool with views of the ocean and tropical grounds. Accommodating  up to about 150 guests for a reception. Receptions held here will be assigned the beach for the ceremony. 

For couples seeking a more traditional setting or a backup plan for inclement weather, Secrets offers an elegant indoor ballroom perfect for ceremonies or receptions. Combined with its stunning beachfront, romantic wedding gazebo, and terraces, the resort provides a versatile selection of destination wedding venues in Cancun.
