My Honest Review of Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres by Natasia

If you are a bride interested in a destination wedding and you care about guest experience, flow, aesthetics, and logistics, not just pretty photos, this review is for you.

I recently toured Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres through the exact lens I use when I evaluate properties for my couples:

Will it photograph well?
Will it flow well?
Will your guests feel taken care of?
And most importantly, will it feel elevated?

Here’s my honest take.

First Impressions Matter. The lobby is gorgeous and as you face into the resort, the layout is simple. To the left, you see the club section. This is adults-only, all suites, and provides butler service. To the right you see the family-friendly section. 

Club guests can access the family side, but not the other way around. That means if you have a mix of adults and families joining you, you should definitely reserve rooms in both areas so that everyone on your guest list gets the experience that is right for them. 

The beach? Huge. Wide. Tons of space. Palapas and hammocks everywhere. This is not a cramped shoreline situation.

There are a variety of ceremony and reception venues to choose from depending on the size, vibe, and vision for your wedding. Let’s get into my favorites.

The Garden Gazebo is a modern, striking gazebo surrounded 360 degrees by guest seating. This space can hold up to 100 guests and is perfect for the bride that wants a unique set-up. Keep in mind, your only realistic ceremony time here will be 5pm. Any earlier and you will have full, direct sunlight in your face and your guests will be baking in the heat.

The Sky Gazebo and Sky Terrace are famous for a reason. I love this venue for couples who want to exchange vows in front of stunning ocean views without having to be directly on the sandy beach. This area is perfect for a contained event with spaces for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception as well as bathrooms and dressing room facilities. My drawback here, is that there is no elevator access to the gazebo area where the ceremony will take place, so if you have elderly guests or mobility concerns, this may sway you to another venue. 

For your dream wedding right on the beach, the dedicated beach ceremony location is truly oceanfront and stunning. There’s a wooden walkway leading to it, and the staff clean it thoroughly before the bride walks in. This may sound like a small detail, but it has big impact. The beach reception area, however, is set back from the water and doesn’t have a great, direct ocean view. If your dream is dining under the stars with the ocean as your backdrop, this may not be the best option for your big day.

You can’t talk about planning your destination wedding without considering your backup venue options in the event of bad weather. Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres gets this right. Their ballroom is gorgeous and clearly designed with weddings in mind. It doesn’t feel like a convention center used as a backup wedding venue as an afterthought. The terrace attached to the ballroom can also be used as either a ceremony or cocktail hour space. When you have dedicated so much time and money to having your dream wedding, you want a weather backup option that still feels luxe.

To really elevate your big day, book the bridal and groom suites. The bridal suite is perfect for you and nine of your closest girls to get dressed, have hair and makeup service, sip champagne and enjoy appetizers, and even add access to the sauna if you choose. The guys can enjoy the groom suite at Churchill, the cigar lounge, and their stay includes a PlayStation, beer, and appetizers. 

Finally, let’s talk about your guest experience, because you want a trip your loved ones will talk about for years. Amenities available at Majestic Mirage Costa Mujeres include the water park, sports bar open until 2AM, theme nights in the Plaza, bowling (extra charge), dedicated Kid’s Club and Teen’s Club, and an app that allows guests to easily access activity schedules and resort maps. For your guests who upgrade to Elegance Club, there is a dedicated check-in lobby with lounge, food, and even refreshing rooms to shower and change before departure. This resort does a great job of offering amenities to guests of all ages and your group will definitely not be bored.

So, is Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres right for you? If you are a bride who wants spaces that can accommodate a large or small group comfortably, a balance of family-friendly and adults-only energy, solid backup plan options, great amenities to keep your guests entertained, and a polished wedding experience supported by a strong wedding team, then this is an excellent option for you.
