My Honest Review of AVA Resort Cancun by Andrea

If you’ve been seeing AVA Resort Cancun all over the internet and wondering if it actually lives up to the hype, you’re not alone. As one of the newest luxury all-inclusive resorts in Cancun. I recently spent time there, and this is my honest take!

AVA Resort Cancun is off the hotel zone, very close to the airport. First impressions, the resort is massive and modern. The size can feel overwhelming, but the layout is simply one long hallway. The rooms at AVA Resort Cancun are spacious, with large balconies, modern décor, and sleek bathrooms, and have a water view. The resort offers many room categories to accommodate families of many sizes.  

AVA offers a wide variety of restaurants. However, quality can be inconsistent. It’s not a bad food resort, but it’s also not a foodie destination. The first night, despite having many restaurants, reservations were hard to come by.  We ended up in the sushi restaurant, which was very good, and the waitstaff was amazing.  Another highlight was the room service breakfast. I left the order on the door of my room before bed, and room service was promptly delivered to my room the next morning. 

One of the highlights of AVA Resort Cancun is its large manmade lagoon style pool. The pool spans the length of the resort and has plenty of chairs available. The beach at Ava is not ideal, and at the time of my stay did not offer chairs or beach service.  They do have barriers to keep the sargassum away, but I would not recommend this resort if you are a beach person. 

AVA Resort is geared towards families and children.  With lots of options including virtual reality, arcade, movies, escape room, and shopping, there’s plenty to do.  Most of the experiences at the resort do come with an additional price tag, so be prepared to pay. 

Overall, AVA was geared towards families, and I was not with kids to enjoy the additional amenities.  The food was average, and the rooms were nice.  The resort felt somewhat like a cruise ship, with the long hallways.  I would recommend to anyone with kids and not looking to be on the beach.  The plus is that AVA is located close to the hotel zone, and airport.
