My Experience Planning a Destination Wedding with Barefoot Bridal by Barefoot Bride Luciana Herrera

I recently got married on November 10, 2025 at Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres, and I wanted to share my experience now that I am back home and settling into normal life again. We chose this resort for our wedding and guest stay, and honestly it was absolutely beautiful. There were so many things for adults to enjoy, but also a lot for families which was important for us. I brought my two little girls who are three and four, and my brother brought his two kids who are four and six. They were the only kids with us because they were in the wedding, but the resort really is a great place for families. In total we had sixty five guests, including a few who stayed off the resort, and everything worked out so smoothly.

I also want to share my experience working with Barefoot Bridal, because they played a big part in helping me plan everything from the travel side. I decided from the beginning that I wasn’t going to hire a traditional wedding planner because I wanted to save money for other parts of the wedding. Sharon at Barefoot Bridal had been a past bride, so she really understood the whole process and what we go through when planning a destination wedding. Even though they do not act as planners, they know so much about the steps involved in planning and were always there to answer questions. My resort did provide a wedding coordinator who reached out about three months before the big day, and she helped me with the detailed planning, but Barefoot Bridal made the travel side so much easier. I honestly think most brides can handle the planning on their own if they have a wedding coordinator included in their package, especially with Barefoot Bridal supporting the travel portion for free.

One thing I really appreciated is that Barefoot Bridal is completely free to hire. They guaranteed my room block with the five hundred dollars I put down, and from there guests were able to reserve their rooms with a one hundred dollar deposit. As more guests booked, additional rooms were added to the block automatically. On top of that, Barefoot Bridal offers some great rewards based on your group size. We ended up receiving an extra private dinner and cocktail hour for forty guests, one thousand dollars back in flights, a free room, twenty percent off spa services, and free room upgrades. All of that was such a nice bonus and really helped us enjoy our time even more.

Overall I’m so glad I trusted them with our room block and let them guide us through the process. If you are planning a destination wedding and feeling overwhelmed, I definitely recommend working with them. They helped make our wedding week unforgettable.
