It all began on July 21, 2023, when Karter sent a message to Brooke on Instagram. Neither of us could have imagined that, exactly two years later, we would be standing together as husband and wife. After months of talking on the phone, we finally found ourselves both at SEU—Karter, pursuing his studies and wrestling, and Brooke, just beginning her journey at school.

A few weeks into the semester, we attended a Thursday morning church service. Little did we know, that simple morning would change our lives forever. Walking out of the church we met for the very first time and after a short conversation, we had our first date the following week! We were inseparable from that point on, and it didn’t take long to realize that we were going to spend our lives together. In the summer of 2024 we traveled across Europe and shared many adventures while falling deeper in love.

We spent almost every day side by side for 10 months straight—until careers, school, and mission work separated us. As fall came, we celebrated our first year of dating, even though we were 8,186 miles apart. Brooke was in Africa, serving on a mission trip, while Karter was in Florida, working toward his bachelor’s degree and building his future. Though the distance was hard, it only made our love grow stronger, and our faith deeper. While Brooke was in Africa, Karter was secretly planning our future. He bought an engagement ring, and the plans for a life together began to take shape.

On November 19, 2024, Brooke returned home from her mission work, and we were finally reunited. The holiday season was filled with precious moments spent with family and friends. On December 29th, with our loved ones by our side, Karter proposed to Brooke on the beach, a moment we will never forget. As we enter this new year as an engaged couple, we look forward to the next chapter of our lives together.
