Honest Review of Our Stay at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana by Mikaela Rivera

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic offered a mix of experiences during our stay, leaving us with both highlights and areas for improvement. While the resort had some standout features, a few drawbacks ultimately made it less than ideal for our personal standards. Here's a detailed account of our stay, starting with the cons and ending on a positive note.

Room Challenges and Maintenance Issues

Upon arrival, we were disappointed to find that neither our room nor my parents' room had working TVs, which felt like a basic amenity that should be functional. Adding to this, the air conditioner in my parents’ room didn’t work, making their stay less comfortable in the tropical heat. The rooms themselves felt a bit outdated, with noticeable rust and mildew on the sinks and metal fixtures in the shower. While these details didn’t ruin our stay, they were enough to leave an impression and pointed to a need for better maintenance and upgrades.

A Mixed Culinary Experience

The dining experience at Dreams Royal Beach was, unfortunately, another area that fell short of our expectations. While the food wasn’t terrible, it also wasn’t memorable. For a resort of this caliber, we hoped for a more diverse and flavorful selection of dishes. While the meals were adequate for fueling our vacation, they weren’t a highlight we’d rave about. However, there were one of two restaurants that we enjoyed! But overall, we just weren’t crazy about the cuisine.

Outstanding Customer Service and Perks

Despite these setbacks, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was pleasant. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly and welcomed with a glass of champagne—a lovely touch to set the tone. After voicing our concerns about the rooms, the staff quickly upgraded us to the Preferred Club at no additional cost. This upgrade was a game-changer, providing us with a personal butler who took care of our every need and elevated our experience.

Memorable Entertainment and Beautiful Surroundings

The resort’s entertainment options and natural beauty stood out as the trip's highlights. The beach was stunning, offering a relaxing and picturesque escape, while the on-site rooftop club provided vibrant nightlife. Dancing under the stars to a live DJ and enjoying drinks at the rooftop bar created unforgettable memories. There was also a waterpark section for kids which looked like so much fun! The resort’s proximity to the airport was another bonus, making our journey hassle-free.

A Resort with Potential but Room for Improvement

While Dreams Royal Beach had its flaws, it wasn’t a bad experience overall. The excellent service and beautiful surroundings helped balance out the maintenance and dining issues. However, we ultimately decided not to select this resort for our wedding room block in February 2025, as it didn’t fully align with our standards. For those looking for a convenient, beachside getaway with great entertainment options, Dreams Royal Beach could be a solid choice, especially if you manage to snag a Preferred Club upgrade.
