Our family vacation to Grenada was a visit to my sister-in-law, who studies on the island. Grenada, known as the “Spice Island,” features lush rainforests, waterfalls, and beautiful beaches. After landing at the airport, we quickly caught our shuttle and reached Royalton Grenada within five minutes.
We arrived at Royalton Grenada and dropped our bags while we checked in at the Front Desk. The front desk was also where you booked excursions, and arranged your shuttle pick up. Our rooms were not ready, and it was also between restaurant times, so we were unable to grab food. The coffee shop was open with gelato, coffee or tea, and the bar was of course open.

The resort is on a cliff with great views but many stairs, which may be challenging for those with mobility concerns. There are no elevators, and golf carts are only used for arrival transport. Our Ocean View King room was clean but smaller than previous Royalton rooms, with a fantastic ocean view. Family members in garden view rooms could also see the ocean from upper floors. Every room has a small fridge stocked with water, soda, and beer.
During our stay at the resort, we primarily dined at the buffet. The breakfast buffet stood out as the most enjoyable meal, featuring an egg and omelet station. Lunch offerings varied in quality, and it appeared that once certain items were depleted, they were not restocked. One evening, the buffet included a pasta bar, which was a highlight of the night. We also visited the Indian restaurant; while Indian cuisine is not my preferred choice, I found the meal to be ok, though my family members were less enthusiastic. On our final evening, dinner at the Italian restaurant marked the highlight of our trip’s dining experiences at the resort. The highlights were the desserts, coffee shop, and gelato. Its important to note that the island imports most of their items, and this may cause shortages on food items. Also, as its known as the spice island, the food was mostly bland!! The beach bar also served lunch, which had great options. Off the resort, we dined at Umbrellas, and I highly recommend it.

There are two pools on site. My favorite pool overlooked the ocean from above. While the other pool was beach level and half was designated for Diamond Club guests. Neither pool had waitstaff, and most days they did run out mixers, and certain drinks. The ocean was by the far the highlight of this trip! The sand was soft, and the water was clear and calm! I cant express how clear the water was! We snorkeled and kayaked, both offered at the resort at no charge.
Royalton Grenada left a lot to be desired in the food department. Where it lacked in the food, the beach and ocean made up for. Royalton Grenada is not a resort for foodies, or guests who need mobility assistance. If you’re looking to explore a calm laid back resort in the West Indies, you may find Royalton is for you!
